Kanal D, Mega to partner on copros

MIPTV: Turkish broadcaster Kanal D and Chilean commercial operator Mega have agreed a far-reaching coproduction and co-development deal.

Turkish dramas have become increasingly popular in Latin America over recent years and the agreement will see Kanal D and Mega working on telenovelas together as well as movies.

Earlier this year the Chilean network acquired three drama series from Turkish broadcaster Kanal D, amounting to 1,200 hours of content. Wounded Love, Time Goes By and the re-run of Fatmagul are all heading to Mega.

Ozge Bulut Marasli, Dogan TV’s VP for international and corporate strategy, said both companies would benefit from the latest agreement and said coproduction projects would soon be in the works.

Patricio Hernandes, CEO of Mega, added that the two firms would “produce content at a high level that can travel in different countries.”

Hernandes added that the companies’ creative teams would collaborate with each other on prospective projects to “create an innovative and universal story.”
