Jukin tucks into Video Pizza

US-based viral video firm Jukin Media has partnered with a Japanese online network to launch a new entertainment brand on YouTube.

Jukin Media and UUUM, a Japanese network of YouTube creators founded by YouTuber Hikakin, have launched Video Pizza, which will be tailored to Japanese audiences.

UUUM will be responsible for day-to-day production and channel management for the brand, while Jukin said it would provide “tactical and strategic” guidance, plus access to its library of 35,000-plus user-generated video clips.

Video Pizza joins FailArmy, JukinVideo, People Are Awesome and The Pet Collective in Jukin’s portfolio of YouTube channel brands.

The aim is to expand the channel to other video platforms, OTT services and, eventually, linear TV, Jukin said.

“We’ve been supplying Japanese TV shows with clips for years as part of our licensing business,” said Cameron Saless, chief growth officer at Jukin Media, “so we know there’s an appetite for user-generated content, and we know there’s a path to longer-form programming from the Video Pizza brand.”
