Jukin taps AOL’s Hayden

US viral video specialists Jukin Media has hired a former AOL Studios exec to head up its original content output.

Nate Hayden

Nate Hayden has joined the LA-based firm as senior VP, original content, a newly created position that will see him lead sales and marketing strategy for all of Jukin’s own series.

At AOL, Hayden led development, production, and strategy for the company’s video operations, including running its New York and LA studios. He previously served as VP of development at FremantleMedia in North America and as a producer and director at MTV, Discovery and NBC.

“The ways people consume video are quickly evolving, but great storytelling will always need that personal connection,” Hayden said. “Jukin has tapped into that with innovative original content that’s inspired by user-generated video.”

Hayden will report to Jukin’s CEO and founder Jonathan Skogmo, who said he was “as knowledgeable and experienced” as anyone in the industry, in terms of premium unscripted programming.

His appointment follows on from other recent moves to boost its original content operations, including the creation of a 14,000sq ft production studio and the appointment of Chris Miller and Jenna Charles to VP of digital production and executive-in-charge of production, respectively.

Earlier this year, Jukin also hired former GoPro exec Brendon Mulvihill to take charge of licensing the company’s user-generated content to third parties.
