Job Description:

The Division's Story
Original Programming (Network and Studio)
A+E Networks is not in the television business. It’s in the storytelling business. Our job is to bring consumers new ways to experience those stories. We get up every day excited to discover new talent, narratives and characters, and live for any chance to shepherd a great idea through development to air.

THE ROLE: Vice President, Unscripted Development & Programming, Lifetime
The VP of Unscripted Development & Programming at Lifetime will be responsible for the development and production of non-fiction series & specials, from conception and deal-making to pilot, production supervision and delivery.  This position will be an active contributor to the overall Lifetime unscripted programming strategy.

What you will do:
  • Develop new non-fiction series and specials for Lifetime, including meeting with and taking pitches from key and potential producers to discuss projects
  • Supervise production of programs and series; review and approve outlines, scripts, rough cuts, budgets and post-production
  • Maintain high degree of knowledge of current events and trends and discuss with staff and producers
  • Carry EP responsibilities for assigned pilots, specials, presentations, and series
  • Develop content of contemporary non-fiction programming to meet the changing viewership demands
  • Keep Lifetime unscripted series on the forefront of non-fiction entertainment, both in ratings and reputation
  • Evaluate current schedule and develop alternative programming to improve the performance of that schedule with an emphasis on rating goals
  • At time, may carry EP responsibilities for assigned pilots, specials, presentations, and series
  • Be responsible for streamlining and disseminating information amongst programming, marketing, PR and other internal partners
  • Represent the network at industry or professional groups, meetings and events

What you will learn:
  • You will have exposure to all the inner workings of what it takes to get our content out the door and on the screen
  • You will see your project through early development stages into production & post-production, all the while serving as the main liaison and point of contact at the Network for the Production Company
  • Above all else, on our team you will have the opportunity to create great content

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in development and production of unscripted content with a network or production company
  • Strong knowledge of current production
  • Established reputation and relationships within creative community
  • Strong creative executive presence that possesses a strategic mindset and has the ability to promote a collaborative environment
  • Natural leadership ability with strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication skill

That something extra!
If you’ve read this far, you’re likely a great fit for us…and maybe you’re fluent in sign language, have studied the circus arts or are currently writing a screenplay. If you have a special skill or backstory that might directly or indirectly help you succeed in this role, we’d love to hear about it in your cover letter.
