Job Description:

The Director, New Digital Products is the individual responsible for scoping new digital opportunities for Discovery and bringing them to a product design and pilot stage. This role involves building a convincing digital strategy, and having a clear view of the monetization of the products involved in it.  This individual to work closely with regional and market leadership, Product Engineering, the Data and Analytics teams, and the Advertising teams. Discovery is looking to build the next generation of digital video and monetization platforms for its publishing propositions, and is looking for a person with proven leadership expertise to design products as well as their commercial go-to-market strategies. This position will be responsible for stewarding products to the point where they can be handed over to a dedicated product manager.

Responsibilities
  • Be a co-owner of the Digital product strategy for Discovery Networks International along with the respective markets (Western and Northern Europe initial focus)
  • Represent Discovery in external discussions as a point of digital product expertise, and guide the broader organization in building digital maturity
  • Own commercial and strategic delivery of product(s) and report regularly to senior management
  • Provide direction to a data science and analytics team on how best to support Discovery’s digital product suite
  • Coordinate international syndication efforts across the company
  • Drive best practice adoption in digital product ownership across the Discovery digital and monetization community

Job Requirements:

  • Strong proven experience in an entrepreneurial, management consulting and product ownership role
  • Strong experience of building digital products in an international environment
  • Experience of having worked within a global matrix environment/structure
  • Ability to frame strategic view and maintain balance between technical understanding and business relevance – prior experience representing high-budget enterprises to internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience working with video technologies, AdTech and data infrastructure
  • Strong familiarity with data and commercial use of data
  • Strong familiarity with A/B testing, Advanced Analytics, Programmatic Advertising
  • Proven team leadership skills
  • Willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team with an evolving brief 
  • Ideally educated with post grad qualification (Masters , MBA, etc)
