JimJam founder to head Virgin digital

UK ISP and pay TV operator Virgin Media has appointed the founder of JimJam as its first chief digital entertainment officer.

In the newly created role, David Bouchier will lead the content, programming and digital entertainment teams at Virgin, which is looking to bolster its TV proposition.

Stephane David, executive director of content, and Scott Kewley, director of digital entertainment, will both report to him.

Bouchier spent six years helping to develop the Sky business across Europe, first as a member of the management executive of BSkyB, responsible for handling the company’s investment in German pay TV, then with News Corp as MD of programming for Sky Italia.

He then returned to the UK and set up his own pay TV broadcast businesses, creating a number of pay TV channels including the preschool outfit JimJam, now owned by AMC Networks.
