Jetpack propels Talking Tom

Talking Tom follows the adventures of a talking cat

A UK-based distributor has taken the global broadcast rights to the CGI animated series based on the app brand Talking Tom and Friends.

Jetpack Distribution, which is led by former Disney exec Dominic Gardiner and was set up in 2014, will distribute the 52×11′ series around the world, excluding Asia.

Created and produced by Cyprus-based Outfit7 and Vienna-based Arx Anima, the series chronicles the adventures, hijinks and inventions of Tom, a talking cat, and his friends as they shoot their own reality television show.

Having launched on YouTube in April this year, Talking Tom amassed more than 70 million views in its first three months, claims Outfit7.

This followed the success of the Talking Friends apps, which Outfit7 says have reached almost three billion downloads globally and have 250 million active monthly players from 230 countries.
