Jetix localises in Bulgaria

Jetix Europe has begun to broadcast its first localised channel in Bulgaria so that children in the Balkan territory can enjoy their favourite programmes in their own language.

The channel has been broadcast in Bulgaria since 1998, but will now become localised in almost a million households via Bulgaria’s major cable and satellite platforms, such as Bulsatcom, ITV Partner, Cable Tel and Eurocom Cable.

At present, 30% of the channel’s output will be in Bulgarian and by early 2008 this will be 100%. The localisation means that kids in Bulgaria will now be able to see the likes of Pucca, What’s With Andy, Naruto and W.I.T.C.H. in their own language.

Maciej Bral, MD of Jetix Central and Eastern Europe and Poland, said: “The localisation is great news, not only for the Bulgarian media and advertising market but also for Bulgarian kids and families. The country can now enjoy top-quality localised programming with the first fully dedicated kids channel broadcast in Bulgarian.”
