Jaunt preps e-sports docuseries

US-based virtual reality outfit Jaunt has linked up with Modern Times Group-owned exports company ESL on an immersive docuseries about the booming world of video game competition.

CLG: Win Everythin’ follows one team’s journey to the 2016 Intel Extreme Masters World tournament, which is held in Poland and sees gamers battling it out.

Jaunt will capture and develop a series of VR docs and experiences that will chronicle the ESL gaming network, featuring some of the best teams.

David Anderman, chief business officer at Jaunt, said: “Virtual reality brings a whole new level of fan engagement to e-sports, prime for ESL’s audiences who want to connect with their favourite athletes and experience the pulse-racing thrills and live action of far-away tournaments.”

Viewers will be able to watch the resulting content via the Jaunt VR app on desktop and mobile devices.

Jaunt is backed by firms including Disney, ProSieben and Sky while MTG took its 74% stake in ESL as part of a wider strategic shift into digital ventures.
