Jaunt names NBCU alum as CEO

US-based virtual reality outfit Jaunt has appointed a former NBC Universal (NBCU) executive as its new CEO.

George Kliavkoff was most recently Hearst Ventures’ president and Hearst Entertainment co-president. Prior to that he was NBCU’s chief digital officer and had a key role in the creation of US video streamer Hulu.

Silicon Valley-headquartered Jaunt was co-founded in 2013 by entrepreneur Jens Christensen, who was CEO until May this year when he stepped down. Jaunt founder Arthur van Hoff, who has served as interim CEO, will resume his role as chief technology officer.

Jaunt makes a hardware and software suite for VR that includes VR cameras and a VR app. The company has raised over US$100m in funding from parties including Disney, Google Ventures, Evolution Media Partners, ProSiebenSat.1, Sky, Axel Springer and Redpoint Ventures.
