CONTENT STRATEGIES: Uncovering programming opportunities worldwide

J-Lo format finds Lat Am homes

Simon Fuller’s new talent series starring Jennifer Lopez will air across all of Latin America after Endemol made sales ahead the show’s debut on US Hispanic net Univision this weekend.

¡Q’viva! The Chosen, from Fuller’s XIX Entertainment and Endemol Argentina, will launch on Univision in the US on Saturday at 19.00 ET.

The show is fronted by actress/singer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony. The pair spent three months last year traveling across 21 countries in Latin America to search for undiscovered singers, dancers and musicians.

Seventeen networks spanning those markets have now signed up to air the programme, some as early as this weekend, with others to follow in the coming weeks and months.

Among the buyers are: Teletica 7 in Cosa Rica, TVN in Panama, America Television in Peru, Televen in Venezuela, TV Record in Brazil and Megavision Canal 9 in Chile.

¡Q’viva! The Chosen is broadcast in Spanish, Portuguese and English. While Univision has Spanish-language rights in the US, Fox has picked up the English version. Pop music director Jamie King is show producer.

“Logistically there has never been a production to take on the challenge of discovering and filming artists in so many countries and the scale of the show’s international broadcast is set to be equally unprecedented,” said Endemol’s Philippe Maigret.

The producers said they were aiming for a simultaneous launch across Latin America back when Endemol’s involvement in the show was first announced https://www.c21media.net/archives/54636 .
