Charlie Hampton and Sarah Conroy have both left the channel as part of a commissioning restructure.

In an e-mail to staff seen by C21, ITV director of television Kevin Lygo said the duo had made a “highly valued contribution to ITV Drama output over the past three years.”

“As part of the process of restructuring commissioning, we have taken the decision to work with a smaller drama team going forward, and therefore we will be making the two commissioning editor roles redundant,” Lygo wrote in the note back in August.

“This will, regretfully, mean the departure of our colleagues Charlie Hampton and Sarah Conroy, both of whom have made a highly valued contribution to the ITV Drama output over the past three years.”

The redundancies comes after ITV CEO Adam Crozier said the company would have to make £25m (US$33m) in cuts following the EU referendum. At that time, Crozier didn’t reveal which departments would be affected but he said programming budgets would not be touched.

The remaining staff on the scripted team include drama commissioner Jane Hudson and senior drama commissioner Victoria Fea, both of whom report to ITV’s new head of drama Polly Hill.

While at ITV, Hampton and Conroy were part of the team that commissioned shows including Marcella, The Durrells, the forthcoming Victoria, Cold Feet, The Halcyon, Harlots and Loch Ness.

Hampton looked after The Durrells, Grantchester, Prey and The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies and Conroy was behind shows including Endeavour, The Secret, The Frankenstein Chronicles and forthcoming The Level.
