ITV sails off with Icon’s Mighty Rivers

Icon Films produces Jeremy Wade’s Mighty Rivers for US cablenet Animal Planet

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has picked up a six-part documentary series fronted by River Monsters’ Jeremy Wade.

Jeremy Wade’s Mighty Rivers is produced by Bristol-based indie Icon Films for Discovery-owned US cablenet Animal Planet.

The 6×60’ series sees Wade explore some of the planet’s largest waterways, the animals that live there and the threat posed by climate change and pollution. It includes trips to the Amazon, Ganges, Yangtze and Mississippi.

Wade’s River Monsters series aired for nine seasons on ITV and repeats continue to air on its digital net ITV4.

ITV Studios Global Entertainment is handling distribution of the new series worldwide outside the US and UK.
