ITV returns Celebrity Squares to air

UK commercial broadcaster ITV will return classic game show Celebrity Squares to screens later this year.

DCD Media-owned September Films and GroupM Entertainment are working on an updated version of the show, which will be hosted by Warwick Davis.

The format, based on the classic Hollywood Squares gameshow from CBS Studios International, sees celebrities placed in a noughts and crosses grid of nine boxes and asked to answer questions.

The contestants have to agree or disagree with the celebrity answers and if they’re correct they win the square. They need three boxes in a line, vertically, horizontally or diagonally to win the rounds and cash prizes.

The series was commissioned by ITV’s director of comedy and entertainment Elaine Bedell and commissioning editor for entertainment Peter Davey.

It will be executive produced by Bob Massie for September Films and Tony Mousdale and Abigail Adams for GroupM Entertainment and series produced by Aaron Morgan.
