ITV renews Mr Whicher

ITV in the UK has commissioned a third run of 19th century detective drama The Suspicions of Mr Whicher.

The commercial broadcaster has ordered two original TV movies from UK indie Hat Trick Productions, following 2011’s The Suspicions of Mr Whicher and its 2013 follow-up The Murder In Angel Lane. It will be based on the book by Kate Summerscale.

The 2×120’ films, Beyond the Pale and ‘Til Death Do Us Part, are penned by playwright Helen Edmundson and directed by David Blair (Bert & Dickie) and Geoff Sax (Endeavour).

The two films see a detective, played by Paddy Considine, pursue his new role as a private inquiry agent.

ITV’s director of drama, Steve November, commissioned the films. Filming will take place throughout April and May in central London, Kent, Wiltshire and Hertfordshire.
