MIPTV: UK commercial broadcaster ITV has picked up the Mr Magoo reboot from Xilam Animation for children’s channel CITV.

The 2D animated comedy series (78×7’), which will launch on CITV next spring, follows the elderly and disaster-prone Mr Magoo, who ends up causing chaos every time he forgets to put his glasses on.

The reboot was commissioned by France Télévisions in partnership with Cartoon Network in Asia and Discovery in Italy’s K2. Olivier Jean-Marie has adapted it from John Hubley’s original 1949 series, with Xilam’s Hugo Gittard directing the new version.

The show is expected to be completed and delivered by December 2018.

Xilam is also prioritising Mr Magoo as a key property for consumer product development, starting with France and the UK.
