ITV lands Blakeway RAF doc

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has commissioned Blakeway Productions to produce a three-part series with the UK’s Royal Air Force (RAF).

Zinc Media-owned UK prodco Blakeway is now in advanced discussions with potential coproduction partners in the US for the doc, which will offer behind the scenes access to RAF operations.

Blakeway has previously produced factual shows including armed forces documentary Afghanistan: The Lion’s Last Roar? for BBC2 and Channel 5’s Inside Buckingham Palace: The Queen’s Worst Year.

“We are delighted that we have been awarded this high-profile commission with ITV and the RAF which further highlights our strategy of securing bigger budget multi-part series in our TV business,” said David Galan, chief operating and financial officer at Zinc Media.

Last year UK-based Zinc struck an agreement to acquire Scottish indie Tern Television Productions in a deal that could cost up to £5.45m (US$7.14m).
