ITV extends X Factor deal

UK commercial network ITV has extended its deal with Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment and FremantleMedia UK for The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

The agreement means both talent shows will be broadcast on the channel until the end of 2016.

The deal will see Britain’s Got Talent enter its eighth season early next year, with singing show The X Factor will returning for an 11th season later in 2014.

ITV’s sibling channel ITV2 will also continue to broadcast sister shows The Xtra Factor and Britain’s Got More Talent.

Peter Fincham, ITV director of television, said the Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor “set the gold standard for entertainment production” and that they formed “an important part of ITV’s schedule.”

Cowell added: “ITV has been a fantastic partner and we have some exciting new plans to take the shows to the next level.”

The X Factor, which is coproduced by Syco and Fremantle, has aired on ITV1 for the past 10 years, while Britain’s Got Talent made its debut six years ago.
