Richard Klein, director of factual at ITV, and Andrew O’Connell, commissioning editor, have ordered six hours from Oxford Scientific Films (OSF) and a specialist one-off from Endemol Shine Group-owned Dragonfly.

Animal Mums (3×60’) follows a variety of expectant creatures from giving birth alone to making sure their offspring learn important survival lessons.

The show will air this year and executive producers are Caroline Hawkins and Alice Keens-Soper. The news follows the launch of OSF’s Nature Nuts with Julian Clary (3×60’), which began airing on ITV on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Dragonfly’s single film The Hedgehog Hotel (1×60’) offers a glimpse into the moonlit world of rescued hedgehogs as they prepare to return to the wild.
