ITV Encore takes Swedish drama

ITV’s fledgling subscription drama channel ITV Encore is to broadcast Swedish mystery thriller Jordskott.

The 10-part series, produced by Scandi indie Palladium Fiction, premiered on Swedish pubcaster SVT in February. Along with fellow Swedish series Ängelby, it is distributed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment.

Jordskott (10×60’) follows the disappearance of a child in the small community of Silverhöjd. The drama was acquired by ITV director of digital channels and acquisitions Angela Jain.

Earlier this year, ITV Encore began airing all five seasons of award-winning period drama Downton Abbey.

It followed the channel commissioning its first original series, Midwinter of the Spirit, last November, a supernatural thriller about a female country vicar. This was followed by The Frankenstein Chronicles, a six-part re-imagining of the Frankenstein legend from UK indie Rainmark Films.
