ITV dramas reach South African SVoD

ITV Studios’ Jekyll & Hyde

MIPCOM: Fledgling South African SVoD service ShowMax has acquired a volume drama package from ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVSGE).

The deal covers 125 hours of programming, including a raft of high-profile drama titles. Among the shows in the package are ITV Studios’ new action-drama Jekyll and Hyde, unveiled internationally at Mipcom this week; three seasons of Rectify, Mr Selfridge and Vera; and new dramas Good Witch and Texas Rising.

Dan Gopal, executive VP of EMEA distribution and global digital partners for ITVSGE, said: “Africa is one of the fastest-growing markets for TV content and ShowMax is one of the major players in the region, so it is the ideal partner for our programming.”

Victor Eckard, head of content for ShowMax, added: “Our goal from the outset has been to establish ShowMax as the most comprehensive, high-quality SVoD content collection in Africa.”
