ITF adds former C4 exec

London-based Indie Training Fund (ITF) has appointed a former Channel 4 commissioning executive to become the organisation’s managing director.

Janey Walker will take up the role in January and oversee ITF’s expert-led training for TV and digital media companies. The not-for-profit organisation is funded by its members and provides training across areas including production, legal, finance, development and cross-platform subjects.

Walker was previously a managing editor of commissioning and head of education at the UK’s Channel 4, and is currently a member of the Ofcom Content Board, a regulatory body that advises on content regulation and editorial standards.

Nick Catliff, managing director of Lion TV and chair of the ITF board, said: “Janey Walker will bring wide experience in the industry to ITF and can develop the organisation to provide the most up to date and effective training as well as real value for money.

“The UK independent sector is now worth £3bn (US$4.74bn) and ITF is best placed to meet the training demands of a fast changing industry.”
