From this month the children’s series Hugo the TV Troll will start appearing twice a week on Romanian television, after a licence deal with Danish game developer ITE.

ITE’s two-year deal with SBS Broadcasting’s Prima TV channel will see the interactive kids series adding another language to its portfolio, which already includes local versions in Poland, Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, Turkey and Ireland.

“Hugo is a great and fresh character who will add great value to our programming for children,” said Prima chief operating officer Christoph Buerge. “We are looking forward to having his success story and brand on our channel.”

Several deals on merchandising are currently being negotiated to further support the launch of the show, said ITE. In 1990 ITE launched the interactive television show in Denmark and has subsequently sold over 8.5 million games to date.
