Chimenz will join a country focus panel at the event, part of C21’s Content London, which takes place from November 29 to December 1. The speakers will look at the new wave in premium Italian TV and discuss coproduction opportunities with the international market.

Italy’s TV output has only recently started to mirror the craft and screen heritage of its film industry, partly due to projects that have come out of Rome-based Cattleya including Roberto Saviano-created mafia series Gomorrah, Saviano’s next show Zero Zero Zero, and award-winning crime drama Romanzo Criminale.

Other high-profile projects coming out of the country include Paolo Sorrentino’s five-way copro The Young Pope, starring Jude Law and Diane Keaton for Sky, HBO and Canal Plus and produced by firms including Wildside; and Medici: Masters of Florence, starring Dustin Hoffman and made with the involvement of Italy’s Lux Vide.

Rome-based Cattleya has produced more than 60 feature films and a dozen TV series, including Gomorrah, which Chimenz executive produces. Chimenz’s principal focus is on developing international relations and activities for both film and television. He is also the president of the European Producers Club, an association of influential independent film producers from 15 countries across Europe.
