Irish toon Henry meets int’l networks

International broadcasters including Nick Jr in the UK and Ireland have pre-bought a pre-school toon due to premiere on Irish pubcaster RTÉjr this summer.

The Day Henry Met! (26×5′), which follows a charming, inquisitive boy who meets something new in each episode, will also air on TVO in Canada, YLE in Finland and SVT in Sweden.

Its producers, Dublin-based Wiggleywoo, say the toon encourages children to use their imagination and discover the world around them through play and adventure.

The pre-sales, along with investment from RTÉjr, The Irish Film Board, Irish tax breaks and funding body Creative Europe, have helped finance the series, which recently began production and is due to begin airing on RTÉjr in June. Other channels will start to air the show in autumn.

Fellow Irish firm Monster Entertainment holds the distribution rights to the series and will officially launch it at Kidscreen in Miami next month.
