Ion warms to Cold Case

US cablenet Ion Television has picked up CBS police procedural Cold Case as it builds up its slate of syndicated series.

The deal, with Warner Bros Domestic Television Distribution, will see all seven seasons (156 episodes) of the crime drama air on the entertainment network. It is set to begin transmission in spring 2012.

As part of the agreement, Ion is also extending its rights to another CBS drama Without a Trace.

Cold Case, which originally ran on CBS from 2003 to 2010, is about a female detective who investigates previously unsolved crimes

NATPE 2012It was created by Meredith Stiehm, who exec-produced with Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Veena Sud, Jennifer Johnson and Gred Plageman.

It was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros Television.

“Cold Case is a proven Warner Bros drama that features diverse self-contained stories and a very relatable cast that resonates with our audience and fits well with our syndicated series expansion strategy,” said Brandon Burgess, CEO of Ion parent Ion Media Networks.

Earlier this year, Ion secured rights to the first two seasons of The Listener, which is produced by Canadian prodco Shaftesbury in association with CTV and Fox International Channels.

Ion also has syndication rights to detective dramas Psych and Monk and medical series House from NBCUniversal, as well as ABC sitcom George Lopez.
