Ion takes Rookie Blue

US channel Ion Television has landed the broadcast syndication rights to ABC cop drama Rookie Blue.

Ion, which also acquired syndication rights to CBS series Blue Bloods in February, will begin airing Rookie Blue this fall.

The police drama is set to enter its fifth season on ABC this June and focuses on the personal and professional lives of five rookie cops.

“Rookie Blue fits seamlessly with our current roster of hit series and reinforces our commitment to viewers,” said Brandon Burgess, chairman and CEO of Ion Media Networks.

The series, produced by IFC Films and eOne, joins the likes of Criminal Minds, Cold Case and Law & Order: Criminal Intent on Ion, as well as off-cable dramas Burn Notice, Psych and Leverage.
