Intrigue preps Korean dramas

Californian-based production outfit Intrigue is to develop a pair of South Korean drama series after acquiring US format rights from media group CJ E&M.

3rd Hospital first aired on tvN in Korea and follows the conflict between two brothers who are doctors, one who uses traditional Eastern medicine and the other who turns to modern medical advances.

Vampire Prosecutor was broadcast on OCN and tells the story of a vampire who uses his powers to solve crimes, including finding out who first bit him.

Tariq Jalil, president of Intrigue, said 3rd Hospital was “a very timely piece,” while Vampire Prosecutor “is a one-of-a-kind crime thriller that deftly blends two proven genres with a compelling, new premise.”

The duo are the latest programmes Intrigue has picked up for development for the US market, following success with reality series Operation Repo for TruTV, which was based on a Spanish format from Telemundo.
