Int’l networks do Proper deal

Broadcasters in North America, Europe and Australasia have acquired hours of unscripted fare from Toronto-based distributor Proper Rights.

In Canada, public broadcaster RDI took the documentary For the Love of Their Brother (1×60′), which features never-before-seen 9/11 footage, for French Canada.

CBC News Network has bought Justice for MLK: The Hunt for James Earl Ray (2×60′, 1×90′), while indie channel CHCH has picked up Killer Comebacks (26×30′).

In Europe, Discovery Benelux has acquired season two of car series Vegas Rat Rods (10×60′), Fox Networks Group has licensed two seasons (12×60′) of Don’t Drive Here in Finland and ProSiebenSat.1 picked up the docudrama series Hardcore Heroes (6×60′) for Germany.

Meanwhile, in Australasia, Holmes + Homes (6×60′) has been taken by Foxtel in Australia and Discovery Networks Asia for New Zealand.

“International demand for unscripted programming continues to be strong, and we are serving the need with our catalogue of lifestyle, character-led factual, and documentaries,” said Natalie Vinet, VP of Proper Rights.
