Int’l nets take Superights toons

Broadcasters in Europe and Asia have picked up toon duo Kika & Bob and Picnic With Cake from a distributor led by the former head of children’s TV at French broadcaster M6.

Canal+ educational comedy series Kika & Bob (52×13′) has been sold by Paris-based Superights to Discovery Kids Asia Pacific, MBC in the Middle East, RTP in Portugal and NRK in Norway.

Sarah Kwek, programming manager at Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, said: “This out-of-the-ordinary series is a great mix of fun and educational content, which perfectly fits the ‘smart fun’ positioning of Discovery Kids.”

Meanwhile, preschool series Picnic With Cake (13×5′, 1×26′), a coproduction between Submarine Productions, Walking the Dog and Tomavistas, has been sold to RTS in Switzerland, RTP in Portugal and Ceska Televize in the Czech Republic.

Superights, a joint venture between Axone Invest and French prodco Superprod, launched in May last year with Morgann Favennec, former head of children’s programming at M6, as its deputy MD.
