Intel web TV plan hits delays – report

Intel’s efforts to develop an internet TV service and hardware have been hit by delays, with the chip firm not expected to launch its offering until mid to late 2013, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

The paper claimed the firm had previously been hoping for a 2012 roll-out, but has suffered delays in reaching content agreements with media firms as part of its efforts to deliver TV channels over the web.

Though Intel has not publicly discussed its plans, in January 2011 it appointed the former head of BBC’s Future Media & Technology division Erik Huggers as its corporate VP and general manager of its Digital Home Group.
