Indielab was launched in 2015 by former TV producer Victoria Powell.

Earlier this year 16 companies, including Leila Monks’ Antidote Productions, received backing from the scheme and Powell is now hunting for firms that can benefit in 2017.

For the first time, the scheme is hunting for firms from all over the UK rather than just in London.

Another 15 firms are being sought to pitch for investment and high-level, specialist training from industry leaders including Raw TV founder Dimitri Doganis, Brown Eyed Boy MD Gary Rike and Lambent Productions MD Emma Wakefield.

Through a series of workshops, lectures, panel discussions, networking events and one-to-one sessions across four months, indies will gain insight and training on business planning, distribution, how to maximise revenue streams, corporate finance and investor readiness.

The training will also equip indies with a detailed business model that can be used to drive growth and attract investment. The programme will culminate with an investor pitch event, where successful participants will have the opportunity to meet and pitch to individual investors, venture capital funds and other financial investors.

Applications are being sought from companies in all genres and sectors, from more traditional factual and scripted prodcos to digital production outfits, and particularly those led by execs from the black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.

To be eligible, indies must be registered in the UK with less than £5m (US$6.23m) in annual revenue. They must have at least two broadcast credits within the last three years and be a minimum of 80% independent. Indies backed or owned by broadcasters do not qualify.

Entries are open from December 1 to February 7 via the Indielab website.
