Incendo’s Queen reigns in Canada, Europe

Mean Queen, the latest female-led telemovie from Canadian production company Incendo, has been picked up for broadcast in Canada, France and Spain.

Bell in Canada, M6 in France, and Corbi Media in Spain have all acquired first-run rights to the 90-minute drama, which centres on a high-school girl’s dangerous obsession with being crowned prom queen.

Incendo announced earlier this week that principal photography on the film had begun on location in Montreal.

Jean Bureau, Incendo president, will produce with Ian Whitehead, head of production and development, in association with Bell Media.

Incendo chief operating officer Jean-Philippe Normandeau said: “Incendo has a long track record in producing and distributing high-end TV thrillers. As with all Incendo movies, we predict a play in close to 100 countries.”

He added that Incendo was in development on five drama series in the wake of the success of its period production Versailles.

Mean Queen is directed by Philippe Gagnon (who previously directed Incendo productions Twisted and Sleeper) and written by Barbara Kymlicka. It stars Zoe McLellan (Designated Survivor, NCIS: New Orleans), Allie MacDonald (Cardinal, House at the End of the Street) and Nia Roam (Polar, Dark Haven High).

Other female-led TV movies from Incendo include Twisted, The Queen of Sin and Sleeper.
