Dating Game Killer is set to premiere in early 2017 and is from ITV-owned Thinkfactory Media.

The thriller is being directed by Peter Medak (Romeo is Bleeding) and stars Guillermo Diaz (Scandal, Weeds) as Rodney Alcala, a man with a near-genius IQ whose charm landed him an appearance on the television show The Dating Game.

He later became one of the US’s most prolific serial killers, suspected to have killed as many as 130 women and children before he was finally captured in 1980.

Discovery made its first move into scripted miniseries in 2012, ordering period drama Klondike from Entertainment One, Nomadic Pictures and Scott Free Television.
