ID, NBC form doc partnership

Investigation Discovery and NBC’s Peacock Productions have set up a quick-turnaround documentary partnership, starting with a special about Oscar Pistorius’s murder trial.

Paralympics star Pistorius shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his Pretoria home on Valentine’s Day. He denies murder, saying he fired the shots believing she was an intruder.

ID now plans to air Beauty & the Blade Runner (1×60′) from Peacock on Sunday March 3 at 20.00 (ET/PT). The film examines the incident and the legal proceedings so far, including interviews from experts and the couple’s family and friends.

The documentary is the first under a new partnership between the companies to produce quick-turnaround docs on developing news stories. The executive producers are Liz Fischer and Pamela Deutsch.
