Hulu signs up for IFC docs

Weiner follows Anthony Weiner’s ill-fated New York City mayoral race

US video streaming service Hulu has agreed an output deal with IFC Films for a range of documentaries.

The agreement includes titles such as Weiner, which examines Anthony Weiner’s New York City mayoral bid, which will head to Hulu after its pay TV run on Showtime.

Other doc features in the deal include King Georges and City of Gold, which follows food critic Jonathan Gold on a culinary tour of LA.

It marks the first time Hulu has made a deal to access film titles following their theatrical and rental VoD windows.

Hulu already has a deal in place with IFC Films’ parent firm AMC Networks for scripted series hailing from AMC, SundanceTV, We TV and the IFC channel.
