Hulu shuts down Shut Eye

Shut Eye ran for two seasons on Hulu

US streamer Hulu has cancelled its original drama series Shut Eye after two seasons.

The series was produced by Sony Pictures Television and follows a scammer with a small chain of fortune-telling storefronts who receives a blow to the head and realises the error of his ways.

Jeffrey Donovan, who played the lead role in the show, confirmed the cancellation on Twitter and said: “Enjoyed Shut Eye. But all good things must end. I’m grateful to Hulu and Sony. They were great places to work at. Onward and upward.”

The series was created by Les Bohem, who executive produced with Mark Johnson, Melissa Bernstein, David Hudgins, John Shiban and Larysa Kondracki.

The cancellation comes after Hulu unveiled a raft of new originals and acquisitions, including an adaptation of classic novel Catch-22, starring and executive produced by George Clooney, earlier this month.
