Hulu pairs with Pitt prodco

US video streaming site Hulu is coproducing an original 10-part comedy series set in New York alongside Lionsgate and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment.

Deadbeat (10×30′) is a supernatural comedy written by Cody Heller and Brett Konner about a man who helps ghosts with their unfinished business. Both Heller and Konner previously worked on the FX comedy Wilfred.

Troy Miller (Flight of the Conchords, Arrested Development) of Dakota Pictures will direct and exec produce all 10 episodes, with Lionsgate handling international distribution.

The series marks the first coproduction between Lionsgate’s television arm and Hulu. Deadbeat goes into production this fall and is expected to be available on Hulu and Hulu Plus in the US next year.

The comedy adds to Hulu’s slate of original content, which includes shows such as Seth Meyers’ adult toon The Awesomes and The Wrong Mans, its coproduction with BBC Worldwide, which will be available later this year.
