Holland gets place on Couch

A Dutch broadcaster has acquired rights to air its own version of Israeli factual entertainment show Couch Diaries from Armoza Formats.

Public broadcaster EO will develop a version of the format, in which people travel on a 10-day trip to a foreign country sleeping on other people’s couches.

The first episode of the original series (40×25′) will start its daily run on Hot TV in Israel next Monday, produced by Artza Productions, and sees participants journey to Brazil, Poland and Japan.

This follows international deals with Sony Pictures Television, which has bought the rights to the format in both the US and the UK, while ITV Productions has them in Australia. The format has previously been optioned in France, Spain, Portugal, Finland and Norway, according to Artza.

Avi Armoza, CEO of Armoza Formats, said: “Couch Diaries really manages to take a global trend and adapt it into a compelling and emotional television show, bringing journeys of self-awakening into an exciting international landscape.”
