History pots O’Sullivan commission

A+E Networks UK has commissioned an original series fronted by maverick snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan for its History channel.

Rocket Ronnie’s American Hustle (4×60’) is being produced by North One Television for History in the UK and will premiere early next year.

The series sees the former world champion travel across the US with sports broadcaster Matt Smith to explore the history of pool and some of the characters who have been involved in the game.

The series was commissioned by Rachel Job, director of programming for History at A+E Networks UK, with Diana Carter executive producing for the broadcaster. John Quinn will executive produce for North One and All3Media International is handling distribution.

Job said: “This commission continues History’s track record of bringing much-loved British household names to the channel to share their passion for diverse topics and pursuits – from Sean Bean on Waterloo to Shaun Ryder’s UFOs as well as working with Freddie Flintoff as our History brand ambassador in the UK.”
