History indulges in more Pawn

US cablenet History will air a spin-off of its successful Pawn Stars series featuring a new shop in the Deep South.

NATPE 2012Pawn Stars has run on History for five seasons and more than 100 episodes, focusing on the historical items and the stories behind them at a Las Vegas pawn shop.

Now the network is preparing to air Cajun Pawn Stars (14×30′), set in the Silver Dollar Pawn and Jewelry Center in Alexandria, Louisiana.

Pawn Stars producers Leftfield Pictures will produce the spin-off, which airs from Sunday January 8, 2012, at 22.00 (ET).

The new shop is 20,000sq ft and houses more than 100,000 artefacts. Jimmy DeRamus will guide viewers through the haul and negotiations over new purchases, including, in the first episode, a US$500,000 bid for rare US$10,000 and US$5,000 bank notes.

The executive producers for History are Paul Cabana and Mary Donahue. Brent Montgomery and David George are executive producers for Leftfield Pictures.
