History in Oz reveals WW1 slate

The History Channel in Australia is marking the anniversary of the First World War by launching a series of local and acquired programmes about the people and events from the conflict.

H100 – We Remember will begin on August 4, the 100th anniversary of the start of the war, and run for 18 months. Programming will include a run of original short-form interviews with historians that explore personal stories, battlefield strategy and myths and legends.

The Memorial will air in November and be hosted by historian and television presenter Neil Oliver, with the five-parter featuring unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to the working life of The Australian War Memorial in the lead up to the centenary.

Also on the slate is The World Wars, which includes CGI recreations and interviews with contemporary leaders about their opinions on the conflict. An interactive website is also being launched for the channel, which airs exclusively on Australia’s Foxtel pay TV platform.

The anniversary programming comes after Foxtel acquired 66 hours of factual and First World War programming from BBC Worldwide in May.
