HBO takes UK robot drama

HBO Latin America has pre-bought a forthcoming CBBC series penned by the writer of popular children’s show Tracy Beaker Returns.

Eve (13×30′) follows the adventures of a female sentient robot living with a family in suburbia as she attempts to make sense of life as a human teenager.

The series is being produced by Argonon subsidiary Leopard Drama, the prodco behind the BBC’s Missing and ITV’s An Englishman in New York, and marks its first foray into children’s drama.

Argonon International is handling global distribution of the series, which stars Jane Asher (Dancing on the Edge) and Poppy Lee Friar (Mr Selfridge). HBO Latin America is the first international broadcaster to acquire the show.

Eve was co-created by lead writer Emma Reeves (Tracy Beaker Returns, The Dumping Ground) with Blacklisted Films’ David Chikwe (The Holding, Missing). It was commissioned by CBBC controller, Cheryl Taylor, and is set to air early next year in the UK.
