HBO preps McQueen drama

US cablenet HBO has ordered a drama about an African-American man who joins New York’s social elite, with 12 Years a Slave director Steve McQueen co-writing.

Codes of Conduct has been handed a six-episode order which McQueen will co-write with Matthew Michael Carnahan.

The duo will work alongside Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Alan Poul and Russell Simmons as exec producers on the show, which went to pilot last year.

The series will star Helena Bonham Carter and Paul Dano and explore the life of the young man, delving into his mysterious past before he joins New York City’s high society.
