HBO orders Apatow comedy

US premium cablenet HBO has picked up a single-camera comedy from Judd Apatow and Pete Holmes.

The cabler has handed a series order to Crashing, which is loosely based comedian Holmes’s life.

Apatow, who is behind a string of hit comedy movies such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Step Brothers, and Holmes will exec produce the project, in which the latter will also star.

It comes after HBO announced this month that Apatow’s Girls would end with its sixth season.
