HBO houses Duplass’s Animals

US cablenet HBO has picked up the first season of a comedy series being produced by Duplass Brothers Productions, and ordered a second run of the animated show.

Animals, created by Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano, will air on HBO in 2016 and centres on creatures such as pigeons and rats reflecting on life in New York City.

HBO will also take global rights to the programme, which was first shown at the Sundance Film Festival in January and is being exec produced by Mark and Jay Duplass.

The duo are already working with HBO on fellow comedy series Togetherness, slated to return next year.
