HBO Getting On again

US premium cablenet HBO has ordered a second season of its hospital comedy series Getting On.

The programme is an adaptation of a show that was originally aired by UK pubcaster the BBC and has been written by Mark Olsen and Will Scheffer, who wrote and oversaw polygamist drama Big Love for HBO.

The six-episode second season will be produced by Olsen and Scheffer’s prodco Anima Sola alongside BBC Worldwide Productions. The creators and stars of the BBC series – Jo Brand, Joanna Scanlan and Vicki Pepperdine – will exec produce alongside Olsen and Scheffer.

The original version of Getting On aired in the UK on BBC4 and followed three nurses working on a geriatric ward in a NHS hospital.
