HBO Europe unveils first int’l copro

HBO Europe has linked up with Germany’s TNT Serie and the producers behind Deutschland 83 for its first international coproduction, a cyber-crime series.

Hackerville is an original six-part thriller created by Ralph Martin and from UFA Fiction and will be produced by Cristian Mungiu and Tudor Reu through Mobra Films.

The show will be directed by Igor Cobileanski (Umbre) and Anca Miruna Lazarescu. The writing team consists of Laurențiu Rusescu, Daniel Sandu, Martin and Steve Bailie.

Executive producers are Joerg Winger (Deutschland 83/86) for UFA and Johnathan Young (Wataha) for HBO Europe, with more to be announced. Alina David and Silvia Popescu are the producers for HBO Europe.

Hackerville is about a network of hackers and the investigators tasked with tracking them down in Germany and Romania.

The show will be shot in 4K on location in Bucharest and Frankfurt from this spring, for an expected fall premiere on HBO Europe and TNT Serie.

It will be shown by HBO in Central Europe, Scandinavia and Spain, while TNT Serie will premiere the series in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Turner International will handle all sales outside the HBO Europe and US territory.
