Sent (8×30’) is directed and coproduced by Singaporean comedian Alaric Tay and will air exclusively on HBO Asia’s on-air, online and on-demand platforms next year.

Developed and produced by HBO Asia, Sent features an ensemble of actors based in Singapore and Thailand.

The programme follows an unremarkable and meek financial compliance officer who has a habit of writing honest emails to anyone who aggravates him. After he inadvertently sends out drafts of these emails, which no one was ever supposed to see, his world turns upside down.

Sent, which marks Tay’s foray into TV direction, is produced in partnership with the Info-communications Media Development Authority, with the aim of developing Singapore’s media industry and talent.

Under the partnership, HBO Asia says it aims to work with local talent and companies and train them to develop and produce compelling content for international audiences.

In July, HBO in Asia started production on its first Chinese original series, six-part drama The Psychic.

The series, HBO Asia’s first Taiwanese production, followed on from English-language fantasy series Halfworlds, which was renewed for a second season in June.

HBO Asia is also collaborating with China Movie Channel on an anthology of Chinese martial arts movies with Hong Kong action director Corey Yuen executive producing the first two shows.
