HBO Asia doubles up on Halfworlds

HBO in Asia has extended its fantasy-horror show Halfworlds into a second season, making the drama its first returning series.

The English- and Indonesian-language programme’s second eight-part run will be set in Bangkok and follows a tenacious researcher trying to uncover the secret world of demons living among humans.

The show has been written by Collin Chang and is being produced by HBO Asia with Singapore-based Infinite Studios, with Thai filmmaker Ekachai Uekrongtham (Beautiful Boxer, Skin Trade) directing. It will air later this year on the network and its online and on-demand services.

The first season, which debuted in November and was produced by Erika North and directed by local filmmaker Joko Anwar, marked HBO Asia’s fourth local production.
